About Driver CPC
Driver Certificate of Professional Competence, also known to as Driver CPC, is an ongoing legal requirement for all professional large goods vehicle drivers (C, C1, C+E, C1+E), with a few exceptions.
It is mandated by EU law and aims to improve road safety standards and help to maintain high standards of driving.
Under this legislation, professional LGV drivers must do 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years in order to retain their Driver CPC to drive a lorry.
The deadline to complete the training is shown on your Drivers Qualification Card (DQC). It’s up to you when you take the training courses as long as you complete the required 35 hours training within the 5-year period.
Drivers can be fined up to £1,000 for driving professionally without Driver CPC.
