We are looking to recruit a Lead Driver to become part of our Training Team in our West Auckland Depot.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Class 1 Driver who wants to progress in their driving career whilst working alongside the Training and Recruitment teams to bring new drivers into the haulage industry and help with training current drivers.
Duties & Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Class 1 Day Driving delivering Reels & Cardboard to customers
- Assist with driving assessments, interviews and induction of new drivers on site (including Pudsey)
Demonstrate and train new and existing drivers and shunters in:
- the safe loading of trailers
- coupling of trailers
- driving and tachograph regulations
- shunting of trailers
- how to achieve an Isotrak score of 100 and under.
- coach and mentor on the road efficient driving.
Also:
- Maintain effective working relationships with Drivers, Lead Drivers and Training Team
- Being available (when on duty) for drivers to call for advice regarding work related issues
- LGV (C+E) driving work across the UK when not required in the office or carrying out training work
- Work with in the Jack Richards office team, carrying out general office duties.

- Complete job call ins
- Name resourcing
- Creating/Updating/Deleting jobs
- Debriefing Infringements
- Training out Toolbox Talks
The successful candidate will have the following:
- A full LGV (C+E) licence held for a minimum of 3 years
- A valid Driver Qualification Card (DCPC)
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
- Very good IT skills.
- Strong work ethic.
- A background in general haulage work with experience of working with paper reels, cardboard and timber is useful.
- An in-depth knowledge of WTD and EU drivers hours rules and Regulations
- Flexibility and adaptability to a varied role.
Estimated Gross Annual Earnings:
- c. £38, 800 + SAFED Plus Fuel Bonus (max c. £1,000 p.a.)
