Driver Profile
At Jack Richards we employ four different types of drivers, LGV 1 Tramping drivers, LGV 1 Night drivers, LGV 1 Day drivers and LGV 3 Palletways drivers.
LGV 1 Tramping drivers are the traditional road haulage driver. They have their own truck, which they live in, and they work up and down the length of the country delivering loads on behalf of our customers. Tramping drivers at Jack Richards enjoy good rates of pay, drive a less than 3 year old DAF XF 105 or Volvo FH12 and are part of the best team of drivers in the UK. To become a Tramping driver you must be prepared to have a least 3 nights away from home every week and work a sixth shift every other week if required.

LGV 1 Night drivers share their trucks with Day drivers. A typical night's work may include trunking a regular load to another Jack Richards depot or shunting loads between our customers and our depots. Night drivers have the advantage of getting home each day but must also be willing to work a sixth shift alternate weeks if required.
LGV 1 Day drivers are the counterpart of the Night drivers. They typically spend their days delivering our customers goods to destinations within a day's driving of their home depot. These jobs are sought after because the driver can be home each night and therefore are normally taken by existing Jack Richards drivers transferring from Nights or Tramping duties.

LGV 3 Palletways drivers are employed at our Fakenham depot driving 18 tonne rigid vehicles delivering pallets throughout Norfolk. Drivers have to be fit, they typically do 20 drops a day, but have the benefits of working set hours in the day and being part of a small specialist team at Jack Richards.
Jack Richards employs LGV1 drivers at our three sites, Fakenham, Northwich and Wisbech. LGV 3 drivers jobs are only available at Fakenham.
